December News from People’s Self-Help Housing

eNewsletter | December 2021

Dear Friend,As I reflect over the course we’ve navigated through 2021 together, this has been a year of tremendous progress.  Thank you for your gracious and resilient support, we are more grateful than ever to have been so deeply engaged with you. The mission of providing new affordable homes, preserving others, and increasing services to those in most need continues to be a heavy lift, but one made possible because of your partnership.

In 2022, we anticipate many more opportunities and hope to replicate the relationships that made these projects this year possible:

  • Heath House, the renovation of an historic home in Santa Barbara which now houses formerly homeless women
  • Project Homekey in Paso Robles, where a Motel 6 was converted into emergency shelter and longer term affordable housing
  • An additional learning center for Templeton students
  • More families entering into first time homeownership in King City
  • Preservation and upgrades of affordable homes in Isla Vista and Santa Maria.

In the coming year, we are on track to create new affordable housing in Templeton, San Luis Obispo, Pismo Beach and Santa Paula, and it is with your help, vision, backing, and goodwill, that these will be accomplished. As we have increased our partnerships and collaborations this year, we have seen new levels of achievement made possible with your support. Our year end and new year prospects are burnished by the renewal of existing relationships and by new ones on the horizon. So here’s to the power of strong collaborations, here’s to your work, here’s to ours, and here’s to doing more together in 2022!

Happy Holidays,

Ken Trigueiro, CEO & President

Festive Fun at Villa La Esperanza
This month, in collaboration with the Santa Barbara Food Bank, students from PSHH property Villa La Esperanza in Goleta, participated in ‘Teens Love Cooking’. Skills were put to the test at the end of the course by cooking a delicious chicken recipe and freshly baked apple turnovers.

Meanwhile, College Club students also joined in the fun by painting festive holiday murals on the windows for all to enjoy. Make more great moments like this happen with your generous gift today!
