CAMARILLO — Freshmen and upper division transfer students are invited to apply for CSU Channel Islands’ (CSUCI) fall 2021 semester beginning Oct. 1 through Dec. 4.
The California State University (CSU) system has temporarily lifted requirements that first-time freshmen submit their SAT and ACT scores for admission for fall 2021. The temporary change will also apply to winter 2022 and spring 2022 admission cycles.
In order to be eligible for admission, first-time freshmen must: be high school graduates or the equivalent; have completed the 15-unit comprehensive “A-G” college preparatory courses; and earn a qualifying grade point average on those “A-G” courses.
“A-G” courses refer to those required by the California State University and University of California systems. Each course corresponds to a letter:
- History/Social Science
- English
- Math
- Laboratory Science
- Language other than English
- Visual & Performing Arts
- Elective
California residents and graduates of California high schools are eligible for freshmen admission by earning a 2.50 grade point average (GPA) or greater on the “A-G” courses.
If you are a California high school graduate or resident of California with a GPA between 2.00 and 2.49 you may be evaluated for admission based upon supplemental factors.
For CSUCI, these supplemental factors include the number of A-G college preparatory courses a student completed, whether or not the student is the first in their family to attend college, and if the student has participated in various high school educational programs such as AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), Upward Bound, the Puente Project, or other programs designed to prepare high school students for college.
“CSU Channel Islands is about access for students and helping them to achieve their college goals,” said Ginger Reyes, Ed.D., Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management. “Our supplemental factors allow us to consider students who have prepared themselves to enter into a university and have had other experience which will contribute to their success at CSUCI.”
There are no admission changes for transfer applicants. All interested applicants for fall 2021 are encouraged to apply during the priority filing period. For more information regarding CSU Channel Islands admissions visit: www.csuci.edu/admissions.
