RISE kicks off ‘RISE Up SLO County’ Fundraising Campaign

UPDATE: During the COVID-19 pandemic, RISE will continue to provide caring, compassionate services to survivors of sexual and intimate partner violence. Unfortunately, due to concerns related to the spread of the Coronavirus, RISE is cancelling the inaugural “RISE Up SLO County” fundraising competition. The campaign invited local businesses to raise needed funds for RISE during Sexual Assault Awareness Month; competing for the chance to be named RISE Up SLO County Business of the Year.

RISE is partnering with prominent local businesses to raise money for sexual assault victims and offering the chance to be named “Business of the Year”

SAN LUIS OBISPO — RISE, a sexual assault and intimate partner violence dual service agency, is hosting a benefit fundraising competition during the month of April, in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Local businesses and entrepreneurs are invited to sign-up to participate and fundraise for RISE during the month of April with a goal of raising a minimum of $1,000 each. The business or entrepreneur which raises the most money will be named 2020 RISE Up SLO County Business of the Year. RISE will announce the winner at an exclusive wrap party for participants at The Penny on April 30th. The wrap party will also feature an exclusive musical performance by the award-winning local band, Bear Market Riot.

Statistics show that 1 in 4 women and 1 in 33 men will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime. Prominent local businesses will have the opportunity to raise awareness about the prevalence of sexual assault in SLO County while growing their customer bases, building their networks, and supporting local survivors and RISE programs and services. ?“RISE is more reliant on our community than ever before,” said Executive Director Jane Pomeroy. “RISE Up SLO County gives local businesses the opportunity to make a big impact while introducing their business to new audiences and customers.”

The winner of RISE Up SLO County will be presented with an award for display, receive social media coverage, a press release, public recognition, and 4 tickets to the RISE annual Wine, Women & Shoes event on September 13th. Each participant will receive a customized online fundraising page and perks like public recognition on RISE’s social media, recognition on the RISE website, and inclusion on all RISE Up SLO County marketing materials, posters, and e-blasts. ?Their place of business will also be pinned on a google map displayed on the event website and easily found by SLO County residents eager to participate.? RISE is asking interested businesses and entrepreneurs to register online at ?riseslo.org?.

All proceeds from the campaign support RISE. For over 40 years, RISE has provided services for survivors and families in San Luis Obispo County, offering free and confidential services such as counseling, 24-hour crisis line, emergency shelter, and prevention education.
