Museum of Ventura County — Actual Reality Closing Reception, Munch, Focus on the Masters + More!

Grab a pair of “actual” reality goggles and join us at the Museum this Saturday, August 17th from
3 to 5 p.m. for the closing reception of Actual Reality! Artists Carlos Grasso and Peter Fox will be in attendance, and exhibit catalogs featuring detailed imagery and the inside story of their exhibit will be distributed to visitors for free.
This is your last opportunity to see Actual Reality at the Museum of Ventura County. This is also your last weekend to see Music by the Mastersand Love, What’s It To Ya’: Sculptures by Lynn Creighton before the Museum closes for renovation August 19—September 20, 2019. We hope to see you this weekend!
Actual Reality, a new exhibit created by local artists Carlos Grasso and Peter Fox, examines the present day disconnect between virtual and actual reality. Grasso and Fox both utilize diverse found objects as ingredients in their art. Grasso considers hand-cut shredded pieces of canvas, rusty sheets of metal, or scraps of wood, the ‘blood and bones’ of his creations. Fox adds the element of humor to help us navigate the ‘complex absurdity of … existence’.

On Location in the Santa Monica Mountains and Seashore is now open at the Santa Paula Art Museum! “We like to say we’re painting it forward,” says Timothy Kitz, a longtime member of the Allied Artists of the Santa Monica Mountains and Seashore.
