Santa Paula Museum of Art update for June 21 — Meet Our Artist in Residence! She’s Creating Works Inspired by Santa Paula

JEANETTE COLE ART CENTER & COLE CREATIVITY CENTER
Our kids’ summer art classes are off to a great start here at the Santa Paula Art Museum. In this week’s playful “Geo-Me-Tree” class for kids age 3 to 5, students learned to color, paint, trace and use basic geometric shapes to create their own tree imagery. And, of course, the class had to take a quick field trip to Santa Paula’s famous Moreton Bay Fig Tree! We have a lot more classes coming up this summer for kids, teens and adults. Scroll down to see our upcoming offerings.

Exhibition closes July 7, 2019
There are only three more weekends to catch our incredibly popular current exhibition Common Ground featuring the work of Ventura County artists Meredith Brooks Abbott, Susan Petty, and Gail Pidduck. In this show, the three artists find common ground in their love for their home soil, which has resulted in an uncommonly beautiful collection of artworks. All of the works in the exhibition are available for purchase.

Book Club
Starts Wednesday, July 17, 2019, from 7pm to 9pm
Now in its 25th year of publication, The Artist’s Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity by Julia Cameron has earned a place as a cornerstone book on the subject of creativity. Join us to explore the ideas and challenges that reveal the symbiosis between our creative and spiritual selves. Based on the foundational idea that we all have something to share and learn from each other, all are welcome to participate including first time readers, return readers, the artistically curious, and professional artists. Monthly gatherings will be held on the third Wednesday of each month from 7:00pm to 9:00pm starting Wednesday, July 17, 2019. We will explore two chapters at a time. Participation is free and drop-ins are welcome. Those attending should purchase or borrow their own copy of the book (available on Amazon). Preregistration is not required, but RSVPs are appreciated.
