El Concilio Family Services recognized Edison International for its outstanding community service at El Concilio’s Latino Leadership Awards gala on March 26 at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center, the organization reported this week.
El Concilio board member Hank Lacayo presented to Veronica Gutierrez, VP Corporate Communications of Southern California Edison, a commemorative plaque of appreciation and gratitude toward Edison International’s commitment to excellence and in recognition of Edison International’s 125 years of service to the community.
Lacayo acknowledged Edison International and Southern California Edison’s efforts as a committed corporate citizen of our community. Edison International and Southern California Edison have not only provided service to the community but have also demonstrated what it truly means to be a partner and committed corporate citizen of this community. Their efforts clearly have been felt with their direct support to various community endeavors and initiatives, including support of various community services organizations within Ventura County. Overall, Edison shareholders contributed $15.5 million to community organizations nationwide in 2009.
El Concilio is a nonprofit, non-political community service organization whose primary mission is to provide services to the underserved Latino community. The majority of its clients come from the agricultural industry. Since its establishment in 1975, El Concilio has grown to serve on average more than 18,000 clients per year. El Concilio has programs in youth leadership and development, family education and literacy, and client assistance.
