Museum Partners with Ventura County Credit Union 
Ventura County Credit Unionand the Museum of Ventura County have partnered to display historical pieces at the Moorpark, Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks branches.
The displays at each branch are specific to the city it is displayed in, sharing the region’s history and showcasing the Museum’s artifacts.

Ventura County Resident Artist Ryan Carr
Join the Museum’s Resident Artist Ryan Carr from 6 to 8 p.m., March 20, for our next figure drawing group session at local brewery MadeWest. This popular event meets twice-monthly to draw live, clothed models.
The group alternates between meeting at the Museum and meeting at local breweries. Bring your drawing pads, charcoal, pencils, pastels, whatever your favorite medium! No liquid mediums, please. All skill levels welcome. MadeWest Brewing Company is located at 1744 Donlon St., Ventura.
Lunch + Music = MUNCH
Grab a lunch and head on over to the Museum every Thursday between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. for music by local talent and free admission to the Museum.
March 22 features 70s soft rock favorites with musician Warren Takahashi.

Costume Historian Shelly Foote Is Featured Speaker
Fashion historian Shelly Foote will present an informal gallery talk on the exhibition In Style: Costumes from the Collection, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on March 28 at the Museum of Ventura County. Foote will talk about how garments in the museum’s collections relate to garments in high-style magazines such as Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue and L’Officiel, the process of object selection for exhibitions and will demonstrate how mannequins are prepared for the display of historic costume.
Foote’s lecture is included as part of the museum’s general admission and is presented in conjunction with the museum’s current exhibit, In High Style: The Photography of Neal Barr. For information, call 805.653.0323.
Free Family Spring Fling
Hop into spring with a fun community celebration, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday,March 31, as the Museum of Ventura County hosts free family activities on the Museum Plaza in conjunction with the City of Ventura egg hunt and street fair.
All activities and crafts are free, thanks to the generosity of museum supporter Mimi Allin and TOLD Corporation. Admission to the museum is also free; the museum is open until 5 p.m. There is ample free parking available. For information, visit venturamuseum.org or call 805.653.0323.
Thomas Fire, Our Story Recording Sessions
Help us remember and document our common experience.
The Museum of Ventura County, Ojai Valley Museum, Ventura County Library, and CAPS Media invite you to share your personal stories and experiences of the Thomas Fire. Staff will be onsite to record your stories. Selected stories will air on CAPS Television and Radio, and stream on capsmedia.org.

Neal Barr Shares Behind the Scenes Stories in Upcoming Talk
Neal Barr will present a gallery talk, 1:30-2:30 p.m., April 4, providing a rare opportunity to hear the stories behind the scenes of his most interesting, and at times provocative, photographs.
Barr’s extraordinary life and career, spanning more than five decades, from his early beginnings in Ventura to his fashion career in New York City and back again to Ventura.

“The Navy at Point Mugu From 1945”
From World War II through the Cold War to today’s global operations, Robert Warnagieris, Ed.D., former executive director of the Pacific Missile Test Center at Point Mugu, presents The Navy at Point Mugu From 1945 as the topic of the upcoming“Speaking of Ventura County” lecture series, 1 to 2:30 p.m., April 10, at the Museum of Ventura County, 100 E. Main Street, Ventura.

Deadline Extended for Call For Entries: Annual Wearable Art Fashion Show
The Museum of Ventura County has extended the deadline for the call for entries for its annual Wearable Art Fashion Show to April 20.
This year’s theme, “Wearing Our Stories,” challenges artists, artisans and community members to tell their stories of the impact of the Thomas Fire through an article of clothing or accessories designed for this wearable art showcase. The show will take placeJune 2.

Avant-Garde Exhibit
Working in wood or fiberglass overlaid with automotive paint, local artist Lori Cozen-Geller creates geometric sculptures with cutouts, creating unique works driven by emotion and intuition. She explains her process as “a journey that begins with a feeling” and develops into a piece of art by “by freezing emotions and placing them into concrete form…as if the emotions themselves dictate the specifications of how the art is developed.” In the final product, Cozen-Geller’s emotions are represented by the sculpture’s dimensions, color and finish. On exhibit now through April 8 in the Main Street Museum’s Nook.
Lost Empires: The Conquest of the Americas
Through the George Stuart Historical Figures Collection®, visitors will learn about the conquests of the Americas by early European explorers in search of trade, wealth, and power. Come along with these highly detailed figures on a journey through Aztec, Mayan, Incan and Carribbean cultures and learn how they were forever changed by the early conquistadors. Now through April 2018.
Ag Museum Exhibit Commemorates 90th Anniversary of the St. Francis Dam Disaster
Letters for the Lost, an exhibit marking the 90th anniversary of the St. Francis Dam Disaster, commemorates the lives lost during one of America’s worst civil engineering disasters of the 20th century.
The exhibit is on display now in the historic Agriculture Museum,926 Railroad Avenue, in Santa Paula–itself a St. Francis Dam survivor in one of the heaviest damaged cities within the dam’s flood path.

The Dirt on Tractors: The Evolution of the Modern Tractor
Rare and original tractors illustrate the evolution of farming and feeding Ventura County from 1914 to the present at The Dirt on Tractors: The Evolution of the Modern Tractor. On exhibit now through mid-May at the Ag Museum, 926 Railroad Avenue, Santa Paula.
Ag Air: Aviation in Agriculture
Ag Air: Aviation in Agriculture highlights the importance of aerial applications and the advancements within the agricultural aviation industry with an emphasis on the daredevil, barnstormers and crop dusters of yesteryear.
On exhibit now through July 15 at the Ag Museum, 926 Railroad Avenue, Santa Paula.
Free First Sundays and Appreciation Weekends
The museum offers Free First Sundays and free admission for featured groups on designated Appreciation Weekends.
