CAMARILLO — Dole Packaged Foods and FOOD Share Inc. launched their “Ray of Sunshine” kick-off event on Oct. 6 at Tierra Linda Elementary School in Camarillo.
The event announce Dole’s extended partnership with FOOD Share Inc. and the Ray of Sunshine food drive, a county-wide program that empowers local students to give back to those in our local communities who suffer from food insecurities.
Dole has extended its partnership with FOOD Share and its annual Ray of Sunshine program (formerly Spirit of Giving), a school food drive empowering local students to give back to those in Ventura County who suffer from food insecurities. A total of 69,360 Ventura County residents are currently food insecure.
Last year, Tierra Linda donated more than 12,000 lbs. of food and were honored with a ceremony at Dole Packaged Foods headquarters and $1,000 in funding for their science programs.
Dole also announced its Ray of Sunshine sweepstakes, launching Nov. 1. This year, national and local participants are invited to nominate a ray of sunshine in their community for a chance to win $5,000 and 5,000 lbs. of food donation to a local charity of their choice.
