CAM STUDIO ARTIST IN RESIDENCE

Porfirio Gutierrez, artist, master weaver and advocate comes from a long line of traditional Zapotec weavers from Teotitlan del Valle, Oaxaca, Mexico where his family is still dedicated to this art.  He divides his time  between his hometown in Oaxaca and Ventura County, and is this summer’s CAM Studio Gallery Artist in Residence where he will  carryout his family’s mission of preserving their traditional art form by  offering a series of  weaving workshops to youth of Oaxacan descent.
