VENTURA COUNTY — The Ventura County Community College District and California Lutheran University have partnered to establish a Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) agreement for Moorpark College, Oxnard College and Ventura College students. VCCCD Vice Chancellor Educational Services Rick Post and Cal Lutheran Associate Director of Admission Ineke Dyer led efforts to outline a clear pathway for admission into the Cal Lutheran Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree programs.
The agreement creates a pipeline through which Cal Lutheran offers admission to any current or former VCCCD student who meets one of the following criteria: 1) Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) certified with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher; 2) completion of an Associate Degree for Transfer with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher; or 3) completed college-level English and college-level math (or a minimum of intermediate algebra) with a grade of “C” or higher, a minimum of 30 transferrable units and a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
“California Lutheran University is a valued educational partner of the Ventura County Community College District and we appreciate our flourishing working relationship,” stated VCCCD Chancellor Bernard Luskin. “We are the major community college transfer institution to Cal Lutheran,” said Luskin. “This collaboration increases access to quality higher education and aligns with our mutual goal to improve student retention and degree completion,” added VCCCD Board Chair Bernardo Perez.
“We are excited about this new program, the latest step we have taken to better serve transfer students,” said Cal Lutheran President Chris Kimball. “This Transfer Admission Guarantee will simplify the process for local students, providing a clear path to attending an independent university in their backyard. It is a wonderful example of a public private partnership aimed at helping students.”
