CENTRAL COAST — Ferguson Case Orr Paterson LLP, Ventura County’s largest law firm, is pleased to announce attorneys Jesse Cahill, Douglas Goldwater and Kymberley Peck have been named to this year’s Rising Stars list of Super Lawyers. This is a repeat honor for all three attorneys. The 2017 Rising Stars list includes fewer than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the Southern California Region who are 40 years old or younger, or who have been in practice for 10 years or less.

As an FCOP partner, Cahill’s expertise focuses on estate planning, trusts and probate. A graduate of Pepperdine University School of Law, Cahill serves on the boards of Rain Communities, Inc. and the Conejo Free Clinic, and serves as a volunteer attorney at the Wellness and Caregiver Center at the Camarillo Health Care District. An AV-rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell, Cahill has been included consistently as a Rising Star since 2014.

Goldwater, a partner at FCOP who has been with the firm for over 12 years, primarily practices family law, including both litigation and collaborative cases, and specializes in complex custody and financial disputes. He is also experienced in business, real property and intellectual property litigation. Goldwater, a USC Law graduate, is a past president of the Ventura County Family Law Bar Association, is currently the Secretary/Treasurer of the Ventura County Bar Association (VCBA) and Ventura County Legal Aid, Inc., and is slated to be the President of the VCBA in 2019. Goldwater has been on the Rising Stars list since 2013.

Peck, an FCOP associate, practices family law, estate planning, probate and trust litigation. With experience in highly contested litigation, she guides clients through the legal process, and brings strategic insight to cases involving crossover issues. Peck is currently president of the Women Lawyers of Ventura County and volunteers with Girls, Inc. to promote the positive development of at-risk youth in Ventura County. A resident of Santa Paula, she is involved with the Santa Paula Rotary and its community work.

“Jesse, Doug and Kymberley continually strive to excel in their areas of specialty and are self-motivated to find new opportunities for growth in their practice,” said FCOP managing partner Michael Velthoen. “We congratulate them on this important recognition as 2017 Rising Stars.”

Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters business, is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The annual selections are made using a rigorous multi-phase process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates and peer reviews by practice area.
