Ride Gold Coast Transit District’s Decorated Holiday Bus this December
OXNARD — Gold Coast Transit District (GCTD) is excited to announce that a specially decorated holiday bus will be traveling the streets of Oxnard, Ventura, Port Hueneme and Ojai this holiday season! The 40-foot “ELF on the GO” bus will be decorated inside and out with hundreds of lights — will feature music — and will include District staff as “Elves” riding along passing out candy canes to bus riders and posing for “sELFies!” The festively decorated bus will appear on regularly scheduled select routes from Tuesday, December 6th through Thursday, December 22nd.
“This idea was brought to me by our staff as a fun way to bring added cheer to our customer’s trips this holiday season” stated Steve Brown, Gold Coast Transit District’s General Manager. “It’s wonderful seeing our bus operators, mechanics, customer service representatives and administrative staff joining together to bring good will to our communities.” When asked if he will be spotted on the “ELF on the GO” bus this holiday season he responded, “I’ve got my candy canes ready!”
The first stop for the “ELF on the GO” holiday bus will be at FOOD Share’s 5th Annual Holiday CAN-tree Collection on Friday, December 2nd from 10am to 12pm. The bus will deliver canned food collected by GCTD’s staff, who will be on-site building the District’s can-tree. GCTD is also encouraging the public to bring canned food donations directly to the “ELF on the GO” bus at The Collection on December 2nd. For every five cans donated GCTD will provide a free one-way regular adult bus pass (limit 2 passes per individual). The “ELF on the GO” bus and District staff will also be on display in the 2016 Oxnard Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 3rd.
From December 6th, through December 22nd the holiday bus will begin making bus rider’s trips brighter as it will be deployed on select routes bringing fun and good cheer to all. Sightings of the “Elf on the GO” bus can be tracked by searching #ELFontheGO on Facebook or Twitter or visit www.GoldCoastTransit.org for schedule and fare information.
