CARPINTERIA — Via Real Physical Therapy announces a new addition to its team with Dr. Omar Flores as Supervising Physical Therapist.
Dr. Omar Flores, PT, DPT, CSCS received his doctorate in physical therapy (DPT) from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA and his B.S. in Kinesiology Exercise Science from Cal State University Long Beach. He is a former United States Marine Corps Sergeant and has done two tours overseas, including Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003.
Dr. Flores specializes in myofascial release, which is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying sustained pressure into the myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restoring motion. The use of myofascial release allows him to immediately find the tissues that are causing the patient problems and in most cases, provide immediate relief.
He has also been a personal trainer since exiting the Marines in 2006 and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and therefore specializes in developing strengthening programs for people of all ages and walks of life. Whether you’re trying to make the varsity football team, run your first 5k or simply try to get out of bed a little easier, Dr. Flores has the expertise to help meet your needs.
Dr. Flores is also an apprentice of Christopher Powers, PhD, PT, FAPTA, where he has learned to analyze gait or movement through video analysis and identify movement dysfunction. With this information, he can formulate a treatment program to address the dysfunction through strengthening and movement retraining.
Dr. Flores and wife Kelli, their two children, Maya Bella and Kaiani, live in Carpinteria. He enjoys weightlifting, running, paddle boarding, surfing, and hanging out at the beach with his family.
