Women’s Economic Ventures (WEV). will hold free, one-hour informational sessions facilitated by Spanish Program Coordinator Leticia Sandoval in Ventura County to help determine an individual’s readiness for one of WEV’s business courses. Orientation is required to enroll in the Spanish Self-Employment Training (SSET) program.
WEV offers a four-week Basic Self-Employment Training course in Spanish designed as an introduction to help men and women determine if they are ready to start a business.
WEV’s 12- week advanced Self-Employment Training course provides guidance on how to start, operate or expand a business. The program provides week-by-week training on topics including finances, marketing and sales, public relations and advertising, legal and insurance issues, record keeping, and how to write a business plan.
Participants leave the course with a complete business plan including a marketing plan, a cash flow projection, an operations plan, and a core network to help sustain the business.
The next orientation program will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8 at the Ventura County WEV office, 290 Maple Court, Suite No. 256, Ventura.
That will be followed by an orientation program from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13 at Mi Ciudad Oxnard #10, 2nd Floor, 521 W. Channel Islands Blvd., Port Hueneme.
The orientation programs are free but RSVP is required.
WEV has provided entrepreneurial training to nearly 4,000 women, loaned more than $2 million to local businesses and has created an average of 300 jobs in the community each year.

WEV to present free Advanced Spanish Self-Employment Training Orientation in North Santa Barbara County
The orientation for the next 14-week course will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15 at MIYB Spaces, 429 E. Main St, Santa Maria.
A second orientation will run from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26 at MIYB Spaces.
The orientation sessions will be facilitated by Spanish Program Coordinator Guillermo Chavez in North Santa Barbara County to go over class details and determine readiness for the next Spanish Self-Employment course. Orientation or meeting with Chavez is required to enroll. The orientation programs are free but RSVP is required.
