OXNARD — The 2014 OC Fall Literature & Arts Lecture Series will present award-winning poet Jimmy Santiago Baca in the program “Singing at the Gates: Poems from Prison and other Lives” from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1 at the Oxnard College Performing Arts Building, 4000 S. Rose Ave., Oxnard.
Baca will read some of his latest work and discuss how he made the transition from prison inmate, where he learned to read and write, to poet.
The Oxnard College Literature Arts & Lecture Series is sponsored by Oxnard College and the Oct. 1 and 29 events are co-sponsored by Poets & Writers, Inc. through a grant it received from the James Irvine Foundation.
