La Colonia Community Walk / Run and Health Fair to be held Sept. 6

OXNARD — The Sixth annual La Colonia Community Walk/Run and Health Fair will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6 at Cesar Chavez K-8 School, 301 N. Marquita St., Oxnard, organizers reported in a media release.

The free, open-to-the-public event, hosted by Ventura County Public Health’s Chronic Disease Prevention (CDP) and Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention (NEOP) programs, brings hundreds of residents, community leaders and local organizations together to celebrate their shared commitment to becoming more physically active and eating better in an effort to improve the overall health of individuals, families and entire communities.

In addition to the 5K run, there will be healthy-recipe tastings, produce and prize giveaways, a live radio remote and Zumba and line dancing demonstrations. Registration begins at 8 a.m., the 5K walk/run begins at 9 a.m. and the health fair runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
