VENTURA — Organizers of the American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” walk report they had a successful “Pink Soiree — Make Strides for Pink” kickoff event on May 14 at Discovery Ventura. They are now seeking committee members and team leaders for the Oct. 11 “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” walk.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is the American Cancer Society’s community walk to raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer. Since 1993, eight million walkers across the nation have raised more than $460 million to help fight breast cancer through Making Strides events.

Team leaders are needed to recruit friends, family, neighbors and co-workers to participate with them as a team, organizers reported. Each team will participate in the walk and raise funds for this fund. There is no registration fee, no minimum donation and all individual and teams are welcome.

The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11 at the Ventura Harbor, Harbor Cove Beach. The 5k walk begins at 9 a.m.
