cimm_logo_72dpiOXNARD – Channel Islands Maritime Museum is looking for volunteers to participate as historical figures in period costume for its third annual “Art Comes Alive” event, scheduled to take place 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Feb. 18-19, 2017. The event presents living history as volunteers in authentic costuming interact with visitors of all ages, sharing stories about the fascinating maritime heritage connected with a selected group of rare and beautiful paintings dating back to the 1600s and several of the museum-quality ship models.

The time period presented ranges from ancient civilizations all the way through present day. Characters include kings, queens, sea captains and wives, pirates, prisoners of war, U.S. presidents, sailors and more! There is no experience needed; the museum provides costumes, if needed, and all information to develop your character.

The museum is located in Oxnard’s Channel Islands Harbor at 3900 Bluefin Circle. For more information, contact Connie Korenstein, 805-657-1970 or curriculum@cimmvc.org. Please call to schedule a time to preview the works of art and choose your character.
