Announcing CEC’s 2025 Green Gala:

A Celebration of Resilience

and Climate Action
Join the Community Environmental Council (CEC) on Saturday, September 27 for our 2025 Green Gala, honoring our community’s resilience, strength, and climate action.

This inspiring evening unites community leaders, philanthropists, and climate advocates to support our critical work protecting California’s Central Coast. We’ll celebrate resilience, symbolized by the drought-hardy Matilija poppy, a reminder that even in the harshest conditions, we can thrive.

The Green Gala will be held at the Bakery Block, the Santa Barbara Funk Zone’s newest event venue. A Cocktail Party and VIP Reception kicks off the evening from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., followed by a seated dinner and live auction from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. After the formal program, the celebration continues with the After-Party from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. We invite the community to join us in coming together to strengthen our commitment to a more equitable, climate-safe future.

Keynote Speaker:

“Fire may test us, but resilience defines us. Every challenge is an opportunity to rebuild stronger, reconnect with each other and the environment, and move forward with purpose. I’m proud to stand with CEC and this incredible community to celebrate recovery, renewal, and the power of rebuilding together — especially with wildfire resilience as a focus.”

-Captain Sheila Kelliher Berkoh

Public Information Officer, L.A. County Fire

This year, CEC welcomes Captain Sheila Kelliher Berkoh as our keynote speaker. Drawing from her firsthand experience on the front lines of the recent L.A. fires, Captain Kelliher Berkoh will share powerful insights on the urgency, preparedness, and collective action needed to face climate challenges head-on.

Retired Santa Barbara City Fire Chief Pat McElroy will also host a special table honoring Santa Barbara first responders who provided critical assistance during the L.A. fires.

Don’t Miss the After-Party

A La Carte Tickets Available

The celebration doesn’t stop after the Green Gala! Join us at the After-Party for an epic dance party under the stars. Open to the public, the After-Party will feature live music from local cover band The Academy, delivering a mix of rock, funk, Motown, and classic throwback jams to keep the energy high. Enjoy complimentary beer, wine, and cocktails from local makers as you connect with fellow climate champions and toast to bold climate action.
All 21+ are welcome, and tickets are $35 — with every dollar funding CEC’s critical climate projects that bolster community resilience. See you on the dance floor on September 27, from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Bakery Block.
