SANTA PAULA — The City of Santa Paula will begin a 2024/2025 Citywide Street Maintenance Project on Monday, October 21st, continuing efforts to maintain and upgrade key streets across the city. The project, expected to wrap up by Thanksgiving, is funded largely through Measure T, reflecting the City’s commitment to enhancing road conditions and infrastructure reliability.
Of the $1.7 million allocated for this project, nearly $1.5 million comes from Measure T funds, with the remaining amount supported by SB1 state transportation funding. This project fits into the City’s Pavement Management Plan (PMP), which uses data-driven strategies to extend road lifespans and improve Santa Paula’s Pavement Condition Index (PCI). Key elements include micro-surfacing, a treatment designed to prolong road durability by up to 10 years.
The work focuses on several key streets primarily located north of Santa Paula Street and between Palm Avenue and 10th/Mill Street, including:

In addition to resurfacing, the project includes repairs to curbs and gutters, sidewalk panel replacements, and curb ramp upgrades to enhance accessibility. Initial work will target View Street, Palm Avenue, Pleasant Street, Mill Street, and 9th Street, beginning with concrete repairs, followed by paving operations.
“We are putting every available dollar to work to ensure Santa Paula’s roads are reliable, safe, and well-maintained,” said Mayor Leslie Cornejo. “These improvements reflect our focus on the quality of life and mobility our residents expect.”
Public Works Director Clete Saunier added, “While temporary closures may cause some inconvenience, this project will provide lasting improvements that benefit the entire community. We appreciate the public’s understanding as our crews carry out the work.”
Looking ahead, this project represents the fifth year of the City’s first five-year PMP cycle out of a twenty-year plan. Looking toward the future, Measure R, appearing on the ballot this November, will offer voters the chance to accelerate the pace of street repairs, narrowing the plan from fifteen more years to as little as five years.
