Hello,

Building a more resilient food system requires that all of us work together. That’s why we’re excited to introduce the online hub for SBCFAN Discussions and Working Groups – an opportunity for food system actors like you to connect, align, and activate with other members so that we can continue to develop a robust local food economy, a healthy and just community, and a well-stewarded foodshed.

Already a member? Let’s get to work!
Discussions connect and align members who have similar interests around a specific Food Action Plan goal. Discussion topics are created by members and can range widely, including for example, food waste, food access, heirloom grains, or vocational training in agriculture. Conversations that take place in Discussions can lead to the creation of a Working Group.

Working Groups activate individuals from across the food system to collaborate on projects that push one or more Food Action Plan goals forward. Existing Working Groups include Food As Medicine, Cuyama Valley Food Action Network, and Community Generated Agriculture/Victory Gardens. Learn more about Working Groups on our website.

We invite you to explore these opportunities to connect, align, and activate on the membership portal. Not a member yet? Join for free today on our website.

Sincerely,
Shakira Miracle, Executive Director
Santa Barbara County Food Action Network

P.S. We hope you’ll join us on April 22-24, 2021 for the Community Environmental Council’s Virtual Santa Barbara Earth Day Festival. SBCFAN will have a virtual booth and we’d love to connect with you there! Visit SBEarthDay.orgto register for the free event and stay tuned for additional details.

Membership FAQs

How do I become a member?
Sign up to become a member on our website. It’s free, takes just a few minutes, and offers a variety of benefits.

Why should I become a member?
SBCFAN is a network of food system actors – all of you make up the Network. The membership portal was developed to provide an online “hub” to deepen connection, alignment, and activation with other food system actors so that together, we can build a more resilient food system. While in-person collaboration is critical to building resiliency, this virtual hub for food system actors enhances our work. Learn more.

How much does membership cost?
It’s free to become a member of the Network through 2021. In 2022, SBCFAN will offer tiered membership with varying benefits. We will always offer an equitable cost of membership based on time, talent, or treasure one chooses to provide.

I’m already a member, but I do not remember how to access the member portal.
Sign-in on the log-in page. If you need assistance, please contact us at info@sbcfoodaction.org.
