THOUSAND OAKS — An International Hot Sauce Competition, a California Cornhole Association (CCA)-sanctioned tournament with cash prizes, unlimited craft beer, wine, spirits and food plus plenty of hot sauce tastings are all part of the Old Boney Mountain Hot Summer Night Festival, Thursday, July 11 at The Gardens at Los Robles Golf Course. Farmers Insurance is the premier sponsor. The festival’s main beneficiary is the Grossman Burn Foundation.
“We’ve seen time and again how firefighters put their lives on the line to protect us and our property. During the Woolsey Fire and Camp Fire, their bravery was beyond compare. Their jobs are incredibly dangerous. We feel it’s important to support the Grossman Burn Center and Foundation as they treat firefighters injured in the line of duty and have incredibly important recovery programs for all burn survivors and their families,” says Mary-Catherine McBride, event co-chair.
Hot sauce entries from around the world will be available for tasting. A juried competition will take place prior to the festival. Festival attendees will have the opportunity to cast their vote for the “People’s Choice Award” for best hot sauce as well as best hot sauce label, craft beer, wine, spirits and food. Award winners will be announced at the festival.
“These hot sauces are not the mass produced hot sauces you find in chain stores. They are made in small batches with fresh ingredients following family recipes,” says event co-chair Jeff Losey of Old Boney Mountain Hot Sauce Company.
Teams will compete in the festival’s CCA-sanctioned cornhole tournament from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (4:00 p.m. check-in). Cost per person is $35 with a $500, $300, $200 payout to the top three winning teams. Space is limited. Early registration is recommended.
