OXNARD — Over the past four years, Food Share, Ventura County’s largest hunger-relief organization, has indelibly impacted the community through its College Park drive-thru food distribution. What began as a 90-day disaster relief effort at the height of the pandemic has evolved into a monumental ongoing initiative, thanks to the volunteers’ and donors’ support and generosity.
Since its inception, the College Park drive-thru food distribution has seen an incredible outpouring of support to meet the need. An astounding 10,000 volunteers have dedicated over 40,000 hours of service and tirelessly worked to provide essential sustenance to those facing food insecurity in Ventura County.
This sustained effort at College Park has resulted in the distribution of 500,000 emergency food boxes, serving 1 million Ventura County residents throughout the community over the four years. These numbers underscore the profound impact of Food Share’s mission to alleviate hunger and nourish the lives of individuals and families in need.
To commemorate this significant milestone and express gratitude to the community, Food Share will host a special event on Wednesday, April 10th, at 1:30 PM at College Park, 3250 S. Rose Ave. in Oxnard, to recognize the unwavering support received over the past four years. The event will serve as a testament to the dedication and resilience of all those involved in ensuring that no one in Ventura County goes hungry.
“Four years at College Park in Oxnard represents more than just a distribution site; it symbolizes the spirit of unity and compassion that defines our community,” said Monica White, President & CEO at Food Share. “We extend our heartfelt thanks to the thousands of volunteers, donors, City of Oxnard, and supporters who have made this achievement possible. Together, we are making a tangible difference in the lives of our neighbors, one meal at a time.”
As Food Share celebrates this milestone, it reaffirms its commitment to combating hunger and strengthening communities throughout Ventura County.
