Celebrating Our Shining Stars
Saturday, March 25th saw the return of our annual Superstars of the Year event! After a turbulent three years, we were finally able to celebrate the incredible efforts and talents of the kids in our community. Congratulations to our 13 & Under Youth of the Year, Gisela Alvarez and our 14 & Over Youth of the Year, Alejandro Joya. A massive thank you to everyone who supported this event whether you sponsored, volunteered, attended, or just spread the word. It was heartwarming to see the joy on the faces of the performers and the passion that our Superstars put into the Youth of the Year application process and preparing for the event.
Lead, Succeed, Inspire
Youth of the Month Program
Lead, Succeed and Inspire are the key words that call our youth to make a difference as Youth of the Month! Those who embody these aspirations throughout the month are chosen by the Club Staff and Director. We have extraordinary kids in our Clubs, as showcased at Superstars of the Year! Your gift will allow us to continue to promote and encourage the participation of our members and award good character. You can also experience first-hand the difference this program makes.
With a sponsorship of the Youth of the Month, you can present a certificate to the winner and there will be a photo opportunity with our Youth of the Month and you, with a picture that will be perfect for sharing and framing! We will also be able to award each Youth of the Month a $75 gift card to Barnes & Noble or Big 5 Sporting Goods in keeping with our goal to inspire academic success and healthy lifestyles.
Leading the Way
Six Months at the Helm
Since joining the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley six months ago, our CEO Greg Kovacs has made significant strides in advancing our mission. Under his leadership, we’ve implemented new enriching programs and employed new fundraising and marketing efforts to support our cause. Bringing with him his extensive background in nonprofit leadership, Greg has brought a wealth of knowledge and experience that has allowed us to grow and improve in meaningful ways. We’re excited to see what the future holds!

Highlight on Programs
CSI Forensics
We recently wrapped up our CSI Forensics program, and it was a huge success! Our members got hands-on experience learning about fingerprinting, blood analysis, and more. They worked together to solve a mock crime scene, and it was amazing to see how engaged and excited they were throughout the whole process while learning some cool new skills!
