Saturday, March 25th saw the return of our annual Superstars of the Year event! After a turbulent three years, we were finally able to celebrate the incredible efforts and talents of the kids in our community. Congratulations to our 13 & Under Youth of the Year, Gisela Alvarez and our 14 & Over Youth of the Year, Alejandro Joya. A massive thank you to everyone who supported this event whether you sponsored, volunteered, attended, or just spread the word. It was heartwarming to see the joy on the faces of the performers and the passion that our Superstars put into the Youth of the Year application process and preparing for the event.

Striving Towards Great Futures — Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley Announces Greg Kovacs, CEO

Greg Kovacs joins the Boys & Girls Club with a lifelong passion for helping children and teens achieve their true personal and academic potential. Throughout his career, Greg has had the great fortune and opportunity to design, develop, and lead educational nonprofit organizations, schools, and camp programs towards great success.

He has dedicated more than two decades of his life, helping our nation’s youth find safe and engaging environments, to provide the opportunities needed to grow and achieve personal success. He has gained experience in both traditional school settings and in less formal outdoor experiential education learning environments.

We are excited to launch our first quarterly newsletter of 2022! 

Thank you to all our supporters who saw us, and our kids, through some difficult times.  As we come out of COVID, we are excited for the possibilities. We are almost fully staffed, unmasked, and ready to go!  

This year we will be focusing on sharing the word about our great programming, including summer camps, and inviting our kids back!  We are repairing and replenishing our Clubs as most of our focus the last couple of years was on keeping the doors open to serve our kids.  And we did keep our doors open for those who need us most!

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley Announces New Board Member: Rachelle Wan

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley is excited to announce its newest board member, Rachelle Wan.

Wan has more than 25 years of experience as a pharmaceutical expert and executive. She is skilled in leading and mentoring diverse teams to their maximum professional potential. Her family moved to Southern California five and a half years ago to begin her career at Amgen. Her many responsibilities and initiatives as an executive director at Amgen include owning pricing and contracting elements for the company’s diverse brands, delivering financial reporting for quarterly earnings reporting, and helping achieve the successful integration of the Otezla acquisition.

Kids are Top Priority at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley (BGCGCV)…Six Clubs Remain Open to Serve the Community

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley (BGCGCV) continues to serve the community in a safe environment during the pandemic. 

The BGCGCV has kept six clubs open in a safe and secure environment following all the strict guidelines established by the CDC.  Youth are kept in stable monthly cohorts to ensure distancing and safety.  To date, the BGCGCV has had no cases of Covid transmission in any of the clubs.

Kiwanis Club of Thousand Oaks Charitable Foundation Contributes to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley (BGCGCV)

The Kiwanis Club of Thousand Oaks Charitable Foundation recently donated $2,500 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley (BGCGCV).  The donation will be used to help fund the many programs offered by the BGCGCV for local youth.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley (BGCGCV) offers Traditional Summer Camp

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley are gearing up to provide a fun-filled and educational Summer Camp for K-8th graders. 

Camp is offered at five Clubs including the Anderson Club located on the Los Cerritos Middle School Campus in Thousand Oaks, Johnston Club located on the Colina Middle School Campus in Thousand Oaks, Morton Club located on the Sequoia Middle School Campus in Newbury Park, the Notter Club, located on the Redwood Middle School in Thousand Oaks and the Grossman Club located on Chaparral Elementary School Campus.  Camp hours run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley Announce 2020 Youth of the Year Winners

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley (BGCGCV) are pleased to announce the Youth of the Year winners for 2020.

Liam Hall, a resident of Thousand Oaks won the 13 and under category and Renique (Nicki) McNeil, also of Thousand Oaks was awarded the 14 and up category. In addition, McNeil advanced and won the California Coastal Area Council Youth of the Year.
