¡Viva el Arte de Santa Bárbara! Presents Final Three Free Performances of the Season with Jarabe Mexicano

SANTA BARBARA — ¡Viva el Arte de Santa Bárbara! (Viva) returns with its final installment of the 2023-2024 season. Enjoy three free eclectic and upbeat performances by bordeño-soul music group, Jarabe Mexicano.
Jarabe Mexicano captures the nostalgic spirit of their border roots with their brand of “Bordeño-Soul,” which honors the musical tastes and cultural influences of its members. Jarabe, which translates to ‘concoction,’ highlights the eclectic mix of genres they perform ranging from Mexican Folk, Rock & Roll, and Norteño/Tex-Mex to Latin Rock, Trio Romántico, and popular Cumbia. Their traditional Mariachi string instruments and Norteño-inspired drums complement dramatic vocals in English, Spanish, and Spanglish, and show how this multi-generational ensemble embraces change while still honoring the past.

Viva is dedicated to bringing the rich cultural heritage of Latin America to Santa Barbara County community members and students. It is a collaboration between UCSB Arts & Lectures, The Marjorie Luke Theatre, the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Center, and the Isla Vista School Parent Teacher Association.

SANTA BARBARA – –¡Viva el Arte de Santa Bárbara! (Viva) vuelve con la última entrega de la temporada 2023-2024. Disfruté tres presentaciones eclécticas y alegres del grupo de música soul bordeño, Jarabe Mexicano.
El Jarabe Mexicano captura el espíritu nostálgico de sus raíces fronterizas con su marca de “Bordeño-Soul”, que honra los gustos musicales y las influencias culturales de sus miembros. Jarabe refleja la mezcla ecléctica de géneros que interpretan, desde folk mexicano, rock & roll y norteño/tex-mex hasta rock latino, trío romántico y cumbia. Sus instrumentos tradicionales de cuerda de mariachi y tambores inspirados en el norteño complementan las voces espectaculares en inglés, español y spanglish, y muestran cómo este conjunto multigeneracional abraza el cambio sin dejar de honrar al pasado.
