VENTURA — Michelle Ascencion, Ventura County Clerk-Recorder & Registrar of Voters, welcomed California Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D., for a visit to the Ventura County Clerk-Recorder & Registrar of Voters’ office on Wednesday, April 9. This marked the first visit to Ventura County from a California Secretary of State in over a decade.
Secretary Weber’s first stop was the County Clerk and Recorder division office on the main level of the County Government Center’s Hall of Administration. She and her staff greeted county recorder and county clerk staff and looked in on the Mark A. Lunn Wedding Room, named for the former County Clerk and Recorder. Secretary Weber also visited the Elections Division in the lower level, where she received a tour of the facility and engaged with election staff.
“We are honored to host Secretary Weber and showcase the important work we do here in Ventura County,” said Ascencion. “It’s a privilege to introduce her to our dedicated staff and showcase the county’s rich history.”
“I appreciate the opportunity to meet with the Ventura County staff and tour their facilities,” said Secretary Weber. “County workers are a key part of our democracy and I enjoyed having the opportunity to thank them for their hard work and dedication.”
Secretary Weber was appointed California’s Secretary of State in 2020 to complete the remainder of Alex Padilla’s term when he was appointed to the U.S. Senate. She was elected to a full term on November 8, 2022.

VENTURA – – Michelle Ascención, Secretaria-Registradora y Registradora de Votantes del Condado de Ventura, dio la bienvenida a la Secretaria de Estado de California, Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D., para una visita a la oficina del Secretario-Registrador y Registrador de Votantes del Condado de Ventura el miércoles 9 de abril. Esta fue la primera visita al condado de Ventura de un Secretario de Estado de California en más de una década.
La primera parada de la Secretaria Weber fue la oficina de la división de Secretario y Registrador del Condado en el nivel principal del Salón de Administración del Centro de Gobierno del Condado. Ella y su personal saludaron al registrador del condado y al personal del secretario del condado y observaron la sala de bodas Mark A. Lunn, que lleva el nombre del ex secretario y registrador del condado. La Secretaria Weber también visitó la División de Elecciones en el nivel inferior, donde recibió un recorrido por las instalaciones y se relacionó con el personal electoral.

La secretaria Weber fue nombrada secretaria de Estado de California en 2020 para completar el resto del mandato de Alex Padilla, cuando fue nombrado al Senado de los Estados Unidos. Fue elegida para un mandato completo el 8 de noviembre de 2022.
