Assemblymember Limón issues statement on potential DACA repeal

SACRAMENTO Assemblymember Monique Limón (D-Santa Barbara) on Sept. 1 issued the following statement on Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).

As the proud daughter of immigrants, and as someone who has worked closely with immigrant students and their families, I know that immigrants contribute to the cultural and economic well-being of California. From research and academia, to medicine, technology, agriculture, and the arts, immigrants are enriching our state. DACA is extended to children who have no criminal record—they have done nothing wrong. Our government made a promise to these children. I call upon our Federal government to continue to keep this promise and continue the DACA Program. It is the humane thing to do.

— Monique Limón represents the 37th Assembly District which includes Santa Barbara, Ventura, Goleta, Carpinteria, Ojai, Santa Paula, Fillmore, Buellton, Solvang, Summerland, Isla Vista, Montecito and parts of Oxnard. She currently serves as an Assembly Assistant Majority Whip.
