The Research Library Archives at the Museum of Ventura County is thrilled to share MVCThen, a new blog charting the history of Ventura County.
Three grades still in use today, the Conejo Grade, the Dennison Grade and the Norwegian Grade, played an important role in the growth of Ventura County and opened up development of the Conejo and Simi Valleys. Making the Grade uncovers the treacherous operation to make for safer traveled paths and the result of a more connected Ventura County.

Focus on the Masters: A Conversation with Astrid Preston
March 17, 2019 @ 3 p.m. Focus on the Masters continues its residency at the Museum of Ventura County with artist Astrid Preston, a recipient of the NEA Fellowship Grant in 1987 whose work is on display in many public and private collections.
March 19, 2019 @ 7:30 p.m. Join the Ventura Film Society for a special screening of “Black 47” at the Museum of Ventura County. Black ’47 is the first film ever made about Ireland’s Potato Famine, the most impactful event in Irish history.
March 21, 2019 @ 7:30 p.m. Join the Ventura Film Society for a special screening of “The Wind That Shakes the Barley”. A film about two brothers who join the IRA in the Irish War for Independence but take different sides in the subsequent Civil War.
OPENS MARCH 2ND! The exhibit consists of six beautifully detailed and touching glass panels by artist Frances Elson, as well as a book of poetry by Frances Elson’s sister, a compilation of Cantorial and Yiddish music, and much more.
The Dragon Awakes, an exhibit of George Stuart Historical Figures® of China spanning centuries of leaders, dignitaries and everyday people of their time, is now on display at the Museum of Ventura County in the Fred W. Smith Gallery.
