VENTURA — Author Bill Lascher will be the inaugural speaker for the new Engage & Enlighten community event series hosted by the law firm Ferguson Case Orr Paterson (FCOP), 5:30–7:30 p.m., Oct. 5, at 1050 South Kimball Road, Ventura. The event will include a book reading, signing and slide presentation/discussion of Lascher’s new book, Eve of a Hundred Midnights, the true story of Lascher’s relative, Melville Jacoby, and his bride, Annalee Whitmore, both WWII foreign correspondents. A slide presentation of Jacoby’s personal photos, family letters, cable dispatches and telegrams to editors at Time magazine, accompanies the discussion.

The event is free to the public, however reservations are required. There will be books for sale from a local Camarillo bookstore and refreshments will be served. RSVP to cdickey@fcoplaw.com or call (805) 659-6800.
