La Santa Cecilia exemplifies the modern-day creative hybrid of Latin culture, rock and world music, organizers reported in a media release. Their upbeat sound is always dance-ready and draws inspiration from all over the world using pan-American rhythms like cumbia, bossa nova, rumba, bolero, tango, jazz, jarocho, rock and klezmer. Named for the patron saint of music and musicians, La Santa Cecilia represents the face of a new generation with deep roots in the Los Angeles immigrant community.
¡Viva el Arte de Santa Barbara! will next present Perla Batalla (Feb. 7-9) and Plena Libre (March 21-23). Visit https://www.facebook.com/VivaelArteSB for more information.
