VENTURA COUNTY — The Southeast Ventura County YMCA and Senior Concerns are partnering to collect nonperishable grocery items to distribute to low-income seniors who are self-isolating because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Items will be collected through March 19 at the Yarrow Family YMCA in Westlake Village.
“We know many of our community’s seniors don’t want to go grocery shopping for fear of contracting COVID-19 and they don’t have family or friends who can do the shopping for them,” says Ronnie Stone, President and CEO of the Y.
The Y and Senior Concerns are looking to collect canned goods, toiletries, sauces and condiments, household goods, beverages and snacks.
Donated items should be small in size and dropped off in marked bins in front of the Yarrow Family YMCA (31105 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Westlake Village) from 7am – 11am and 2pm – 6pm. Volunteers will then deliver packages of items to the area’s low-income seniors.
“We’re all looking for ways to support others during this difficult time,” says Stone. “Here’s an opportunity to help some of the most vulnerable in our community.”
