WVCBA Announces the 2022 Chairperson’s Awards of Excellence Recipients

Honorees will be celebrated at the organization’s annual meeting on January 20

OXNARD AND CAMARILLO — The West Ventura County Business Alliance (WVCBA), the chamber of commerce serving Camarillo and Oxnard, is pleased to announce its annual Chairperson’s Awards of Excellence recipients, the Ambassador of the Year, and the Ken Cunningham Award winner. By tradition, all were selected by outgoing 2022 Chair of the Board Dawn Simmons, Financial Advisor with Edward Jones.

Honorees will be celebrated at the WVCBA’s Annual Meeting and Installation of Directors on Friday, January 20, beginning at 11:30 a.m. at Spanish Hills Club in Camarillo. Tickets to the luncheon are $60 for members and $75 for non-members. Registration is available online at wvcba.org or by calling (805) 738-9100.

The five recipients of the Chairperson’s Awards of Excellence are leaders who made significant contributions to the success of the WVCBA in 2022. They are:

  • Steve Buenger, President and CEO of Buenger Commercial Real Estate
  • Tom Cady, Owner of TKC Enterprises
  • Bruce Holley, Event CEO for Kirby Kia Auto Group
  • Anthony Mireles, Business Manager for LIUNA Local 585
  • Don Simmons, Video Creator and Editor Extraordinaire

In addition, Doug Riffenburgh, Profit Recovery Consultant for Business Group Resources, was

named Ambassador of the Year for his leadership of the Alliance Ambassadors committee.

David Wellik, Business Financial Center Manager for Citizens Business Bank, was named recipient of the Ken Cunningham Award, which is presented to the WVCBA Board member who best exemplifies the attributes of Mr. Cunningham: multi-talented, resourceful, energetic, motivated, intelligent and a tireless Alliance volunteer.

Past Chair and Director Stacy Miller, President & CEO of Stacy Miller Public Affairs, also will be honored for her years of service to the organization. She has reached her term limits for the Board of Directors.

The Annual Meeting is an opportunity for attendees to meet the WVCBA’s new Board of Directors, celebrate its successes from 2022, and understand its priorities for 2023 under Chair of the Board Dona Lacayo, Chief Commercial & Public Affairs Officer of the Port of Hueneme.
