VENTURA COUNTY — The Workforce Development Board of Ventura County (WDB) recently elected Gregory Liu as chair and Tracy Perez as vice-chair. Both will serve one-year terms.

Liu is president/CEO of JAXX Manufacturing, an electronics manufacturing company in Simi Valley.

“I’m humbled and honored to have been selected as the new Chair of the Ventura County WDB,” says Liu. “With the guidance and hard work of the accomplished board members and county administrators alike, our mission is to continue directing available resources to improve local workforce skill sets and readiness and to support businesses in the ever-changing challenges that both face. During my tenure, it’s my greatest hope that we can appoint a dynamic, new executive director to the board and to determine how our WDB would be best structured to move our mission forward.”

New WDB Vice-Chair Tracy Perez is branch manager at United Staffing Associates in Oxnard.

“Greg and Tracy will continue WDB’s mission of ensuring Ventura County has a high-quality, skilled workforce that can support the changing business needs of our employers,” says Vic Anselmo, outgoing chair. “Greg and other board members will continue to seek new funding streams to enhance our efforts. On the employer side, Tracy adds a much-needed perspective with her employer connections and networking skills.”

At its June 19 meeting, the Ventura County Board of Supervisors approved Jesse Cuevas as a new WDB member for a three-year term. Cuevas is deputy division chief/Los Angeles-Coastal Workforce Services Division of the State of California Employment Development Department. The Board of Supervisors also approved the reappointment of six current WDB board members: Anthony Mireles, Brian Gabler, Greg Gillespie, Cindy Guenette, Kathy Harner and William Pratt.

Members of the WDB include leaders from business, economic development, education, labor, government and community-based organizations.
