OXNARD — OPAC, the Oxnard Performing Arts Center Nonprofit Corporation, is excited to announce the return of CHELITA: Art, Music and Micheladas Festival on Saturday, July 13 at Heritage Square in Downtown Oxnard. The event features a Michelada Competition with 11+ competitors vying for the title of Best Michelada (Restaurant Category), Best Michelada Mix (Artisan Vendors), and People’s Choice. The big question is: Will last year’s winner, Jalisco’s Restaurant, maintain their champion status or will they be dethroned?

CHELITA is set to transform Heritage Square into a dynamic hub of creativity, fostering an environment where art, music, interactivity, and gastronomy collide to create an unforgettable experience for attendees of all ages.
Event Highlights:

Main Stage: A high energy roster of musical and dance performances including La Sonora Explosiva, Mariachis Gallo de Oro, Los Disidentes, Anessa, and DJ Kris.

Visual Arts Showcase: Wander through an open-air gallery featuring the works of local artisans, painters, and sculptors curated by The Showroom and A Street Studio

Immersive Experiences: Local artists will create one-of-a-kind installations and interactive exhibits making the festival an inspired environment

Micheladas and More: Attendees can elevate their festival experience by partaking in the VIP Treatment, which involves taste-testing a variety of local miche mixes from local establishments and relaxing in the VIP Lounge. Guests select their favorite and receive a full-size drink, which also constitutes a vote in the contest. Any attendee can purchase a Michelada “Palette” Flight, sampling up to 5 different drinks and keep a collectible 3D printed holder in the shape of an artist’s palette. Guests can also enjoy cocktails and beer from the bar.

Art Zone: Guests of all ages can participate in hands-on, art-making activities such as a community paint-by-numbers mural.
