VENTURA — Love is in the air as Ventura County Clerk Recorder and Registrar of Voters Michelle Ascencion and the County Clerk staff are preparing for the Valentine’s Day rush in marriage appointments on February 14.
They advise anyone needing marriage services that day to book their appointment right away.
“Valentine’s Day is always our busiest day for weddings,” Ms. Ascencion said. “It’s very romantic to get married on Valentine’s Day.”
Appointments are needed for all marriage services: Obtaining a marriage license, requesting a certified copy of a marriage certificate, holding a wedding ceremony, and all three services can be received in one appointment.
“Because Valentine’s Day is so popular, we want to accommodate everyone who makes an appointment, including increasing available staff, if necessary,” Ms. Ascencion said.
Marriage services are provided at both County Clerk locations: Ventura County Government Center, 800 S. Victoria Ave., Ventura, and the East County Office, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Suite A, Thousand Oaks. The East County Office is equipped for weddings with up to six attendees. For larger weddings, the Government Center’s newly dedicated Mark A.
Lunn Wedding Room holds wedding parties of up to 17 or, weather permitting, there are several outdoor locations also available.
“Wedding ceremonies are our favorite,” said Ms. Ascencion. “We have had so many wonderful couples and families choose to come here for their special day – it’s always such a happy occasion. We decorate the offices and one supervisor always goes above and beyond and prepares a small gift for each couple. This year is also special for us since we just dedicated the new Mark A. Lunn Wedding Room in December in honor of Mark Lunn’s tenure here. We’re also launching our new @VCClerkRecorder Instagram page on Valentine’s Day. What better way to start off that account than with pictures of happy couples getting married at the County Clerk’s Office?”

Eder Espinoza, one of the Deputy Commissioners of Civil Marriages, has worked at the County Clerk’s Office for 15 years and estimates that he has performed over 1000 weddings in that time.
“I just love it so much,” Espinoza said. “I do weddings in English or Spanish. To watch two families come together that day is magical.”

VENTURA – – El amor está en el aire mientras la Secretaria de Condado y Registradora de Votantes del Condado de Ventura Michelle Ascencion y el personal de la Secretaria del Condado se están preparando para la fuerte demanda de citas matrimoniales para el 14 de febrero. Para todos los servicios matrimoniales se necesita cita: obtener una licencia matrimonial, solicitar un acta de matrimonio certificada, realizar una ceremonia matrimonial y los tres servicios se pueden otorgar en una misma cita.
“Como el Día de San Valentín es tan popular, queremos acomodar a todos los que hagan una cita, incluyendo el aumento de personal disponible, si es necesario,” dijo la Sra. Ascencion.
Servicios matrimoniales se brindan en ambas sucursales del Secretario del Condado: Centro de Gobierno del Condado de Ventura, 800 S. Victoria Ave., Ventura y la oficina del Este del Condado, 2100 E Thousand Oaks Blvd., Suite A, Thousand Oaks. La oficina del Este del Condado tiene capacidad para seis invitados durante las bodas. Para bodas más grandes, el nuevo Cuarto de Bodas dedicado a Mark A. Lunn en el Centro de Gobierno tiene capacidad para 17 invitados y si el clima lo permite, hay varios sitios afuera del Centro disponibles también.
