Ventura County School Closures for Thursday, Dec. 14

VENTURA COUNTY — Due to air quality concerns, some Ventura County school districts will remain closed through the remainder of this week (Dec. 13, 14 and 15). This includes school sites and classrooms operated by the Ventura County Office of Education in the Ventura, Oxnard and Ojai areas (see the full list below). This chart reflects the latest information we have received from the districts. It will be updated regularly at www.vcoe.org as we receive new information.

Detailed Closure Information about VCOE-operated Schools

Due to air quality concerns, the following VCOE-operated school sites and classrooms will remain CLOSED on Thursday, December 14: Boswell School, Penfield School, Ojai TEAMS, Dwire School, James Foster School, and the VCOE-operated special education classrooms at Ventura High School, Balboa Middle School, Emily Ritchen, Williams and Sunkist Schools.

All other VCOE-operated schools and classrooms will be OPEN on Thursday, December 14. This includes Gateway and Providence Schools, the Career Education Center locations in Camarillo and Moorpark, Triton Academy, ACCESS, Phoenix School sites, Dean Triggs School as well as the VCOE special education classrooms in Camarillo, Moorpark and Thousand Oaks.

The health and safety of our students is our top priority. We are continually monitoring air quality and will be providing masks and limiting outdoor activity as conditions warrant. VCOE will send an automated notification to families and staff if conditions change, resulting in additional closures.
