Ventura County Film411 to be a vital resource for production companies and industry professionals
CAMARILLO — To promote Ventura County as an ideal location for film, television and commercial production and to help the local economy grow, the Economic Development Collaborative-Ventura County launched the online directory Ventura County Film411, venturacountyfilm411.org, the EDC-VC reported Tuesday in a media release. The searchable database has more than 350 categories – from aerial cinematography to workshops on film – for use by production companies and their support services.
EDC-VC, which oversees the Ventura County Film Commission, developed Ventura County Film411 with guidance from a regional team of partners to raise the county’s profile in the film industry. While the area is used for filming – for 2011’s movies “The Way” and “Water For Elephants” and in commercials for Fed Ex, Diet Coke, McDonalds and Chevrolet – there are opportunities to further expand the industry for the county’s economic benefit.
“Since 2009, the Los Angeles region has experienced an increase in filming activity of at least 15-20 percent,” Bruce Stenslie, president/CEO of EDC-VC, stated in the media release. “Local area film permit data indicates the growth is making its way into VenturaCounty, and we are in a position to capitalize on that increased demand.”
The directory can help the county recover some of the 20,000 jobs lost during the recession and retain the jobs of more than 3,500 resident trade workers and professionals, Stenslie said.
Companies and individuals can self-register to be included in the directory. The annual cost to be listed is $10 for individuals and $50 for companies.
