VENTURA COUNTY — In alignment with Ventura County’s activation of emergency operations related to COVID-19, VCAS will limit services to those that are essential to operation and limit casual visits to both the Camarillo and Simi Valley shelters. Animal Control Officers will continue to respond to animal welfare and public safety calls. Certain services will be made available by appointment only. We value the health and safety of our community, their pets, the animals in our care, and our employees, and hold these health considerations at the forefront of all operational decisions.
The following will be effective immediately and will remain in effect until further notice:
- Pet adoptions will be by appointment only. Visit www.vcas.us to view our adoptable/available animals and to schedule an appointment.
- If you believe your pet is being cared for at VCAS, please schedule an appointment to bring your pet home.
- We encourage those who have lost their pet to view our animals on our website (www.vcas.us/pets) or VCAS app (www.ventura.org/mobile-apps-gallery)
- Animal Control Officers will continue to respond to public safety and animal welfare calls such as dangerous dogs, sick/injured animals, conduct animal cruelty investigations, and be on patrol. Less urgent calls will be deferred until further notice.
- TNR/Community Cat public spay/neuter services are suspended.
- Rabies vaccination clinics are cancelled until further notice.
- The purchase or renewal of pet licenses can be processed by mail, online (www.vcas.us/pets) or by using the drop-box at the Camarillo Shelter. License-related documents can be sent via FAX (805) 388-4393 or email (vcas_pet_license@ventura.org). Pet licenses will not be sold at either the Camarillo or Simi Valley Animal Shelters.
- Additional details regarding changes to events and ancillary services can be viewed on our website.VCAS is committed to ensuring that the highest quality of care is provided to our animals. Our team of highly dedicated staff and volunteers will be available to feed, clean, and provide enrichment for the animals during these difficult times. However, we are requesting that the public help us by limiting the number of animals entering the shelter to those who are in the greatest need. We continue our commitment to saving animals’ lives, reuniting lost pets with their families, and finding loving homes for lost and surrendered animals.Questions, comments or concerns, please call (805) 388-4341
