Ventura College Celebrates 25th Anniversary of Paramedic Studies Program

Keynote speech to be given by Founding Member, Steve Frank

VENTURA — Ventura College is proud to announce the 25th Anniversary Reception of its esteemed Paramedic Studies Program. The event will take place on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the Ventura College Performing Arts Center, 4700 Loma Vista Road, Ventura, CA 93003.

The reception will feature the presentation of Founding Member Awards to Steve Frank and Meredith Mundell, the visionary leaders who were instrumental in establishing the Paramedic Studies Program at Ventura College. Their dedication and foresight have paved the way for countless students to embark on rewarding careers in emergency medical services in Ventura County.

Following the reception, the graduation ceremony for Paramedic Class 27 will be held with keynote speaker Steve Frank addressing the graduates. This year’s class is poised to join the ranks of Ventura College alumni who have consistently demonstrated excellence in their field.

The Ventura College Paramedic Studies Program is the only program in Ventura County fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs (CAAHEP), following the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP). Successful completion of the program allows students to sit for the National Registry licensing examination, with Ventura College paramedic students boasting a cumulative 100% pass rate on this exam. This opens doors to employment in a wide range of public and private agencies requiring advanced life support skills.

Directed by Thomas O’Connor-NRP, under the guidance of Medical Director Dr. Todd Larsen, the program offers both Full-Time and Part-Time Paramedic Programs to accommodate varying schedules and commitments. Over 70% of graduates launched their careers in Ventura County, with nearly 30% still actively contributing to the community’s health and safety. Our graduates have also made their mark internationally in Australia and Europe, as well as across various states in the U.S. The program gives thanks to the unwavering support of clinical partners, preceptors, and donors who play a crucial role in student training and success.

The Ventura College Paramedic Studies Program remains a cornerstone of the college’s commitment to excellence in healthcare education. We invite the community to join us in celebrating this milestone and honoring those who have made significant contributions to the program’s success. Many thanks to our sponsors the Ventura College Foundation and AMR Gold Coast.
