VENTURA – Most of us have seen those “For Sale By Owner” signs on the lawns of homes around our neighborhood but what does a “For Sale By Owner” really consist of and is it something that all home sellers should do? For some home sellers doing a “For Sale By Owner” transaction may be the perfect fit but for others it may be something that can quickly turn into a nightmare. Before making the leap towards this type of transaction, potential sellers should educate themselves on what this type of transaction requires and what risks they run by choosing this path. Currently there is no single reliable source of information for Ventura County homeowners interested in learning more about this topic. The Ventura County Community Development Corporation (VCCDC) hopes to fill this void by hosting a free “Home Seller – For Sale By Owner” Workshop on Tuesday, March 15th, 2016 at 6pm at the VCCDC Home Ownership Center located at 2231 Sturgis Road, Oxnard, CA 93030 (conveniently located near the 101 Freeway).
Some of the topics covered will be:
- For Sale By Owner Do’s and Don’ts
- What forms are required by California State Law
- Who must be involved in the transaction?
- Common seller mistakes
- Cost of doing a FSBO Sale
- How to gain the most money from the sale
- What are the risks of doing a FSBO sale?
- Questions & Answers Session
There will also be a session held in Spanish at the same time & location. There is no cost to attend the workshop. Space is limited. Seats can be reserved by contacting: (805) 273-7800 or ContactUs@vccdc.org. Online registration can also be done at: www.vccdc.org.
