The Education Foundation of the Ventura County Mexican-American Bar Association will present its annual scholarship dinner beginning with a reception at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19 at the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel, 600 E. Esplanade Drive, Oxnard.
Dinner and the program begin at 6:30 p.m. Michael Farrell, well known for his role as “Capt. B.J. Hunnicutt” of the hit television series M*A*S*H, will be the keynote speaker and also awardee of the “President’s Award” for his dedication and commitment to increasing awareness of social and political issues concerning human and civil rights in this country and across the world, the association reported.
The event will honor Carmen Ramirez with the “Alice McGrath Warrior for Justice Award” for her commitment to the bettering of our community and her history of service to legal aid programs across the State and as former coordinator of the Ventura County Superior Court Legal Self Help Access Center providing assistance to self-represented parties in our county, the association reported.
Also being honored is Dien Le with the “Access to Justice Award” for his representation of our legal community as the 2012 President of the Ventura County Bar Association and his outstanding work in creating the Diversity Bar Alliance dedicated to promoting diversity in the legal profession and on the bench while encouraging collaboration among the minority legal sections.
