The United Way of Ventura County’s Latino Action Team hosted its first-ever “Donation to the Imagination” holiday book drive in partnership with the Oxnard Public Library to benefit low-income children living in Oxnard.

The community was asked to donate new and/or gently-used children’s books this holiday season. More than 300 books were collected during the book drive. About 50 children received the free books at the Oxnard Public Library, 251 So. A St. on Saturday, Dec. 10. The event also included storytelling by local author Kathleen Contreras and a visit with Santa.
