President’s Message 
Dear Friends,
Please take a moment to read the following message from United Way New Zealand CEO Teresa Moore regarding the recent shooting in Christchurch.
“There are many people who are affected by this horrific act of violence in Christchurch. United Way NZ will work to ensure ALL donations go to the charities and community groups providing ongoing post traumatic support, for the victims, families and community.  Over the last 44 years we have developed transparent processes with our regional volunteers and Board of directors to ensure donations meet the needs in the community. A post donation report will be sent to every donor by email, with information of where the donations have been distributed. We will work efficiently and effectively with our networks to promptly distribute the donations received”.
The Donations received will help the following groups:
* Community groups in Dunedin and Christchurch who are working overtime to support the people affected by this horrific tragedy.
* Women’s groups – many are part of refugee families.
* Refugee and English Language partners who teach English and help people assimilate into NZ.
* Victim support will need our help at a branch level, for additional support.
* Community groups who provide food and resources for post trauma support over the next week and months to come.
United Way NZ is donation manager for individual donors and The Tindall Foundation in Christchurch and we have extensive knowledge of the charities working effectively within the Canterbury community region.  We ask everyone to Unite and support this extensive community network with additional donations to assist them with the extra pressure, brought about by this tragic event and the need for ongoing support in the months to come.
