President’s Message
Dear Friends,
On May 10, the Friday before Mother’s Day, we will have our third annual Women United luncheon. Did you know that in order for a single mother to support one child in Ventura County, she needs to earn $23.96 per hour? And with two children, it rises to $27.59? Jobs that pay this much generally require advanced degrees or specialized skills and experience. And, in Ventura County, 38% of female households with children ages 5 and under are living below the poverty level, while 27.5% of female households with a high school diploma are living in poverty.
Women United’s #1 objective is to reduce the percentage of  single mothers living in poverty in Ventura County. Thanks to our Women United members, single-mothers from Moorpark College, Oxnard College, and Ventura College will receive Educational Awards to assist them with their higher education at our luncheon. Please join us and bring a special mother in your life to celebrate these women who are advancing their quality of life through education. To purchase tickets, click here.
In service,
Eric Harrison
