United Way of Ventura County — Stuff the Bus (June 9-July 31) and more news

United Way of Ventura County’s 2025 Stuff the Bus campaign has officially launched! Help us reach our goal of providing 1,000 backpacks stuffed with essential school supplies for local homeless middle schoolers. Currently, over 8,000 youth have been identified as homeless in Ventura County and over 30% of homeless youth are of middle school age. Listed below are ways you can help this year’s campaign.

DONATE TO OUR ONLINE ROONGA DRIVE

Help us fill backpacks with school supplies by supporting our online Roonga school supply drive which runs until July 9th. School supplies purchased through Roonga will be directly shipped to United Way of Ventura County. Please share the link with friends, family members, and co-workers. Also, below is a QR code that leads to the online drive.

HOST A COLLECTION DRIVE

If you would like to host an on-site collection drive where community members can drop off donations, please contact Aissa Fernandez at 805-485-6288 ext. 270 or aissa.fernandez@vcunitedway.org. United Way will provide a pop-up school bus, collection box, and flyers to promote your drive. Onsite collection drives will run through July 18th and all donations will be picked up by United Way.

You can help pave the path to academic success for a child from a family experiencing homelessness. Your support provides essential school supplies. More than that, studies show that sending youth back to school with essential school supplies promotes learning, builds

self-esteem, and helps ensure that they stay in school.
