The acquisition underscores the Art and Design Collection’s status as a premier resource for the study of the built environment in Southern California from the late 19th century to the present day.
With grants from the Wildlife Conservation Board, State Coastal Conservancy and others, the project will include removal of the facilities and screening trees to provide nearly 360-degree views.
Coached by a pair of grad students in the Department of Philosophy, a team of undergraduates from a variety of majors had the best showing by any UC school in the 28-year history of the annual event.
Brent Wilson directs the choirs in a program based on the passage of time, featuring works by Caroline Shaw, Ola Gjeilo, Allahrakka Rahman, Sarah Quartel and György Ligeti.
