SANTA BARBARA — The UCSB Multicultural Center will present “Arte Intimo, Arte Público: Spirit, Vision and Form | The Art of Judy Baca” through Dec. 19 at the MCC Lounge.
Baca, a world-renowned painter and muralist, community arts pioneer, scholar and educator, will speak at a lecture in the MCC Theater at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16.
Currently a professor of Chicano/a Studies and World Arts and Cultures at UCLA, Baca was the founder of the first City of Los Angeles Mural Program in 1974, which evolved into a community arts organization known as the Social and Public Art Resource Center (SPARC).
