SIMI VALLEY — The Simi Valley Family YMCA and Soroptimist International of Simi Valley are hosting a Prom Closet at the Y. Donations of clean, gently used or new formal wear are being accepted for use by high schoolers attending prom. Items can be dropped off at the Y (3200 Cochran St.) until April 12. Teens will be able to select their free prom outfits on Sunday, April 14 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Items needed include dresses, suits, slacks, jackets, shoes, ties, purses and accessories. “The high cost of formal wear can prevent teens from attending their prom,” says Dani Hutchison, senior director of development at the Southeast Ventura County YMCA. “The Y and Soroptimists want to give every student the opportunity to attend their prom in confidence and style.”
Donations are also being accepted at the Yarrow Family YMCA (31105 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Westlake Village).
