The Oxnard Housing Authority Resident Services Program at La Colonia Neighborhood brings the community together to celebrate Dia de los Muertos

OXNARD — A series of cultural workshops were hosted by the Oxnard Housing Authority Resident Services Program at La Colonia Neighborhood culminating with a Dia de los Muertos community celebration on November 2nd, 2017.

Workshops were led by a local artist, Ana Carrillo, with the assistance of family members and local volunteers. Workshops included a short history on the cultural significance of Dia de Los Muertos, flores de papel and papel picado, sugar skull decorating, community altar building and a celebratory community potluck. Residents brought photos of their loved ones who have passed to be included in the community altar.

The community altar will be on display until November 9th, 2017 at the Oxnard Housing Authority Resident Services building located at 1500 Camino Del Sol, Oxnard, CA 93030.
